Samuel Cornelius Phillips (January 5, 1923 – July 30, 2003) was a record producer and the founder of Sun Records, a record label that played a significant role in the development of rock and roll in the 1950s.
Phillips is best known for discovering and recording artists such as Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Johnny Cash, who all became rock and roll icons.
Sam Phillips helped produce music that has stood the test of time and has reached across race, age, and gender boundaries.
