Getting started

How does VidDay work?

The process is simple.

Choose the occasion, who its for, create a deadline, and enter your email to sign up.

Once you’ve signed up, you’ll be on Your VidDays page. While on Your VidDays page, you’ll see all videos you have started. When clicking on a video, you will be directed to the Events Page.

The Event Page is where your video clips and photos will be stored securely. Everything you need in one place!

With the click of a button, VidDay makes the video montage for you — it’s that easy.

When your video is ready, you’ll receive an email, and the final video will be on your Event Page. From there, you can share it online or download it as a keepsake.

What some interesting features?

By starting a new VidDay, you've created an Event Page to add and manage media. You're the creator of the video, which means you can preview and edit submitted media.

If you can’t see submissions, it might mean you’re not logged in to your VidDay account.

All other people who visit the Event Page can not see submissions. What they see is a simplified version of the page with contextual information, the submission deadline, and a button to upload their media.

To invite people to contribute their videos and photos, simply share the Event Page link.

As the creator, you have the ability to arrange media in the order of appearance for the final video. Click and hold thumbnails to drag them around.

We suggest that youuse our Photo Editorto crop and rotate photos to make them look 'just right.'

Can I preview, edit, or delete the submitted media?

You can preview all video and photo submissions. You also have the option to delete media if you want to. Photos can be edited with our Photo Editor.Click hereto learn more about our Photo Editor.

Can I arrange the order of the videos and photos?

Yes, click and hold thumbnails to drag and drop them in the order of preference.

The order of the media on the Event Page will be the order of appearance in the final video. The order starts from the top to bottom, which means the first media on the Event Page will be the first media to appear in the final video.

What will the final video look like?

You can choose a theme to make your video gift look beautiful and personalized. Check out our themes here.

How are the photo background scenes made in the Collage theme?

The backgrounds are automatically populated with screenshots from the video and photo submissions.

Can I use a different theme?

You can share the link by email, text message, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, or any other way you want.

To make things easy, there's a pre-populated invite message.

You can edit the message to create something more personalized.

Can I edit the submission deadline?

You can edit the event details from the Event Page. Look for the Edit Event Details button under the deadline.

Please note that contributors can continue to submit their videos and photos after the submission deadline has passed. The Event Page is only closed to submissions once you hit the Finalize button to publish the video.

How many people can I invite?

As many as you’d like, there is no maximum amount of people that you can invite. The more, the better! Get everyone in on the fun.

Will everyone see the submitted media?

Publishing

What’s finalizing?

Finalizing is the action you take to publish the video in order to share it as a gift with the recipient. When all your media has been added, click theamp; finalize button to get your video finalized.

Can I see my video before paying?

Not at this moment, we need to prepare the video for you. Don’t worry, we have a satisfaction guaranteed or your money back policy. Watch an example here.

What should I know before finalizing a video?

We work towards publishing your video as quickly as possible but it can take up to 1.5 hours.

Make sure that the video clips and photos are in order. Arrange media in sequence, starting from top-left to bottom-right. That will be the order of appearance in the final video.

Check all the video clips to make sure they have audio. If there are video clips without audio, please reach out to the contributor and ask them to resubmit their clip, or proceed as is.

We suggest youuse our Photo Editorto edit photos as they will appear in the final videos as they appear on the Event Page.

Wait until everyone has submitted. You will have to reopen the Event Page to add or edit media while your video is finalizing or published. By reopening the event, you will lose access to the video until the video is republished.

If you choose to republish, there may be a republishing fee.

Can I add late submissions while the video is publishing?

Yes, you can reopen the Event Page and add more media. Click the Cancel Production button from the Event Page to reopen the Event Page.

By reopening the Event Page, you cancel the production of your video. You will need to publish your video again to restart the production. If you choose to republish, there may be a republishing fee.

Is there a way to publish the video quicker than within 1.5 hours?

Unfortunately not at this time. Processing the video clips into one beautiful video takes a little bit of time on our end. We are constantly striving to make beautiful videos and hope tp cut down the time in the future!  Watch an example here.

How quickly can I expect my video to be ready?

We work towards publishing your video as quickly as possible but it can take up to 1.5 hours. This applies to weekdays and weekends.

If you need your video sooner rather than later, ask us through our live chat to promote your video to the top of the production queue to expedite the process.

Can I add more media after my video is published?

Yes, but you will need to reopen the Event Page to add more media. On the Event Page that is hosting the final video, click the Reopen Event button found at the bottom of the page.

When the Event Page is reopened, you will lose the current video and you will see the individual photos and videos again. From there, you can go ahead and add or delete media.

If you choose to republish, there may be a republishing fee.

Sharing the final video

How will the final video be delivered to me?

When the video is ready, you'll receive an email notification. The finished video is hosted on your Event Page that you created to collect media. The video clips and photos are no longer visible, and in its place is the finished video. From there, you can watch, manage, and share the video with the recipient and others.

By default, the privacy of the video is set to Private. Be sure that you're logged in to your VidDay account to see the finished video, or else the event page will appear closed. To make the video available for others to watch, you'll need to change the privacy setting.

Is the final video private?

You have full control of the privacy of the VidDay video you created. The video is Private by default, so only the person who created the video will be able to see the video at first. To change the privacy setting, toggle the privacy setting to public, located  below the video. This toggle controls whether the video is Private or Public.

Can I only share the video with the recipient?

You can keep the video Private, and only share it with the recipient. To do so, you'll share the Private Link.

The Private Link allows the recipient to view the video on the Event Page while keeping it Private. Only people who have this link can watch the video (such as friends or family to whom you send the link).

Click the Private Link button below the video to copy the link to your clipboard. Copied to your clipboard means the link is ready to paste in a text message, email, or however you want to share the link.

How can I share the video publicly?

To share the finished video with contributors and others, set the privacy as Public. By doing so, everyone who has the Event Page link—the same link that they used to submit their video clips and photos—will be able to watch the video. Your video can only be directly accessed using the Event Page link. Don’t worry, your video will not be uploaded to YouTube without your permission, and it cannot be found through any search engine.

To make things easier, you can use the share buttons to quickly send the link through email, text message, Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, or any other way you’d like to share your video.

If you share on Facebook, tag the contributor(s) who helped you make the video. Don’t forget to tag us!

Is there an easy way to share the finished video with contributors?

With the click of a button, you can notify the contributors who submitted their email address along with their submission. We know they're excited to see the finished video! Click the Notify Contributors button, and VidDay will send them an email to let them know that the video is ready to watch.

Can I download the final video?

You can download the final video and keep it as a keepsake.

When you are logged in to your VidDay account, you'll see the download button underneath the final video on the right.

Downloading is only available on desktop computers and laptops. Unfortunately,  phones and tablets block the ability to download large files from internet browsers. For this reason, the download button is not visible on mobile and tablet devices.

Can I download the individual videos/photos that were submitted?

This might be a future feature, but at the moment you can only download the final video.

Troubleshooting

How can I find the video gift that I started?

The video gift you’ve started are found on Your VidDay dashboard when logged in to your VidDay account.

My video clip won’t upload… what should I do?

Refreshing a page will cause the webpage to update with the latest version.

Another common reason someone experiences uploading issues might be a weak WiFi signal. For VidDay to upload videos correctly, we'll need you to have an upload speed of 10Mbps or faster. Here's a great online tool to help you measure your internet speed.

https://www.speedtest.net

We suggest using a WiFi signal not slowed down by other devices.Try not upload too many files at once.

You can also reboot your wireless router:

  • Unplug your router or modem from its power outlet (don't just turn it off).
  • Wait 15-20 seconds, then plug it back in.
  • Allow the device a couple of minutes to turn back on.

Why is the final video not playing in full?

Please check your WiFi connection as the video may not be buffering correctly. You can try downloading the video on a laptop or desktop computer ahead of time to avoid the buffering issues.
