Little things add up to big things. Because of you, contributors took the time out of their busy lives to help you create a beautiful video as a gift. The video is published, and you just got an email notifying you that the video is ready to share.
Now for the exciting part!
You get the pleasure of surprising the recipient with their video gift. But before you do that, here are a few things you should know about sharing the VidDay video.
Watching The Video
The finished video is hosted on the Event Page that you created to collect media. The video clips and photos are no longer visible, and in its place is the finished video. From there, you can watch, manage, and share the video with the recipient and others.
By default, the privacy of the video is set to Private. Be sure that you're logged in to your VidDay account to see the finished video, or else the event page will appear closed. To make the video available for others to watch, you'll need to change the privacy setting.
You have full control of the privacy of the VidDay video you created. The video is Private by default, so only you (the one who created the video) will be able to watch the video at first. To change the privacy setting, look for the privacy toggle below the video. This toggle controls whether the video is Private or Public.
Sharing The Video
You will need to share a link for people to visit and watch the finished video. You can share the video privately or share the video publicly for others to see.
Sharing The Video Privately
You can keep the video Private, and only share it with the recipient. To do so, you'll share the Private Link.
The Private Link allows the recipient to view the video on the Event Page while keeping it Private. Only people who have this link can watch the video (such as friends or family to whom you send the link).
Tap the Private Link button below the video to copy the link to your clipboard. Copied to your clipboard means the link is ready to paste in a text message, email, or however which way you want to share the link.
Sharing The Video Publicly
To share the finished video with contributors and others, set the privacy as Public. By doing so, everyone who has the Event Page link—the same link that they used to submit their video clips and photos—will be able to watch the video. Your video can only be directly accessed using the Event Page link. It's not uploaded to YouTube without your permission, and it can't be found through search engines.
To make things easier, you can use the share buttons to quickly send the link through email, text message, Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, and more.
And if you share on Facebook, tag the contributors who helped you make the video.
With the tap of a button, you can notify the contributors who submitted their email address along with their submission. We bet that they're super excited to see the finished video too! Tap the Notify Contributors button, and VidDay will send them an email to let them know that the video is ready to watch.
Downloading The Video
You can download the finished video to keep it as a souvenir.
Downloading is only available on desktop computers and laptops. For the most part, phones and tablets block the ability to download large files from internet browsers.
Adding or Removing Media From the Video
If you need to make edits to the finished video, like adding or removing media, you'll need to tap the Reopen Event Page button found at the very bottom of the page. By reopening the event page, the final video will disappear, and the page will revert to its original view with the video clips and photos. From there, you can add, remove, and arrange media again. When you're done making edits, tap the Publish button to republish the video.
You will need to pay again to republish the video, but there is a 70% discount automatically applied. For example, a $12 video will have a $3.60 fee to republish.
