About

Jeff Laxson is Co-founder and Designer at VidDay, a platform focused on group video gifts for birthdays and major life moments. He leads product design, UX, and messaging, shaping how people create and experience shared video memories without turning the process into work. His approach is grounded in a simple idea: meaningful gifts don’t come from more features, they come from removing friction at the exact moments people hesitate.

His work focuses on the mechanics behind group video gifts, not just how to make them, but why they succeed or fail. He writes about contribution dynamics, social pressure, effort thresholds, and the small decisions that determine whether people participate or drop off. Rather than treating group videos as universally “heartwarming,” he explores the edge cases, when they feel awkward, when they’re the wrong gift, and how to design around those realities.

At VidDay, Jeff has helped shape an experience used by millions to celebrate birthdays, retirements, weddings, and other milestones. His perspective blends product thinking with behavioral insight, breaking down what actually makes a group video feel personal, cohesive, and worth revisiting. His writing is aimed at helping people make better decisions, whether that means creating a stronger video or recognizing when a simpler gift would be the better choice.
